Hi! This is Leyla from A Day Well Spent, a newsletter seeking pathways to more purposeful living.

Greetings, November 🍂

For new subscribers welcome to Sunday Reflections, our twice monthly gathering. This is our intimate and friendly space for community and accountability. And the last (or first) Sunday of the month is always a juicy one.

How it works

On two Sundays each month I pose a prompt or question which we discuss (and say hi) in the comments.

Topics tend to cover self-empowerment and personal growth and these regular check-ins allow us to share our wisdoms and get to know ourselves and the other members of the A Day Well Spent community better.

Feel free to have a browse through previous Sunday Reflections to get an idea of the stuff we talk about.

Before we begin, the October round-up

In case you missed them, here are all my published pieces from the month in one handy list.

1. 'The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are'

Nomadic cheesemaker, world wanderer and fermentation educator, Trevor Warmedahl, shares his day well spent.

Trevor’s responses are so full of generous and gentle wisdom and it’s one of my favourite interviews yet.

2. Dislike gyms? Me too. What I use to strength train at home

…in my dining room. These 5 small bits of kit serve all my strength training needs.

3. The world according to your Mum doing the washing

British poet and musician, Joshua Idehen, explains theories of the world through the analogy of a Mum doing the washing.

And it’s kind of genius.

4. How to ferment (pickle) any vegetable

You need just three things to ferment a vegetable. A glass jar, sea salt and digital scales. If you have these — and a vegetable — you can get fermenting today.

5. Promote yourself

I asked you to tell us your abilities and what you are proud of and to lay it on thick. No being coy about it, no self-deprecating, no self-effacing. Claim your greatness and the limelight and shout it from the rooftops!

You guys did great with this.

This time last year

Here are the pieces I published in November last year you might also enjoy this month:

  • How to not catch a cold

  • Confession: I don't consume any news

  • Short hair: why it took me 30+ years to do it

  • 'I was going to lend them . . . then realised I couldn’t let them go'

  • Sunday Reflections: travel, sleep and reframing

A big WELCOME to new community members

Should you join this community and leave a message when doing so, it would be a lovely thing to read and I’ll be sure to share it in these monthly round-ups.

To all new members who have joined this month, welcome!

Sunday is for awakening the mind, body and spirit 🧘

Now let’s begin.

Today’s topic: friendship
