Hi! This is Leyla from A Day Well Spent, a newsletter seeking pathways to more purposeful living. If you’re reading this by chance - welcome! You can enter your email below to ensure you never miss my twice weekly posts (Thursdays and Sundays):

Welcome to Sunday Reflections ☕

For new subscribers, welcome to our weekly gathering! This is our intimate and friendly space for community and accountability.

How it works

Each Sunday I pose a prompt or question which we discuss (and say hi) in the comments. Topics tend to cover self-empowerment and personal growth and these weekly check-ins allow us to share our wisdoms and get to know ourselves and the other members of the A Day Well Spent community better.

Feel free to have a browse through previous Sunday Reflections to get an idea of the stuff we talk about, which include monthly New Moon intention setting.

ICYMI

In Thursday’s post I got to interview my friend and colleague, the indomitable Sheila Dillon.

Sheila doesn’t really do interviews. Despite millions of listeners of BBC Radio 4’s The Food Programme being very familiar with her voice, I’m not sure many of us know much about the Sheila beyond the radio and beyond food. I was determined to find out — so I pestered her.

My efforts paid off, she eventually succumbed and I’m so delighted she did; there are so many gems in this.

very last minute for the Substack Masterclass: Building your brand, which I was a bit apprehensive about at first — I had minimal time to prepare.

But it turned out to be very chilled and a really good chat expertly hosted by

. Those who tuned in seemed to find it very helpful too. It got recorded and you can watch / listen to it below.

Getting started: How three writers found their own paths
Watch now (58 mins) | Farrah Storr , Substack’s Head of Writer Partnerships in the U.K., brought together Emma Gannon, Leyla Kazim, and Poorna Bell to discuss what brought them to Substack and how they’ve grown and built a community here. Over the course of an hour, they share stories of highs, lows, and lessons along the way. At the end, the writers in attendance on Zoom ask questions of the panelists. Below, we share…

Before we begin

I’ve just realised Thursday’s post was the 50th article I’ve written here on A Day Well Spent (that’s a pretty decent archive) which has also coincided with this newsletter’s five month anniversary.

So I just wanted to take this opportunity to say, it is my great pleasure to write for you guys here and thank you so much for joining me on this journey. It wouldn’t be the same without you.

Sunday is for awakening the mind, body and spirit 🧘

Now let’s begin.

Today’s topic: travel
