Hello friends, I cannot tell you how excited I have been about sharing this interview about the power of lucid dreaming since I sat down with lucid dreaming teacher and bestselling author Charlie Morley for this chat back in August!
I came across one of Charlie's books on lucid dreaming a few years ago and I've found the subject - and the potential of it for personal fulfilment and growth - to be completely fascinating and such an untapped resource. I really hope you enjoy this conversation with Charlie as much as I do.
This interview is available for everyone to enjoy, draw value from and share with others (please do forward it on!). But along with everything else in this newsletter, it takes a great deal of work to bring all this good stuff to you twice a week.
So if you would like me to continue creating and sharing these kinds of posts for you to continue enjoying, fancy buying me a coffee? Becoming a paid subscriber ensures it becomes viable for me to keep doing so.
It will mean you also gain access to all the writing here past and future (including our much loved weekly Sunday Reflections), as well as the thriving community-led comment section where you can connect with the other wonderful readers here. And a whole bunch of other things.
Here are further reasons why you should consider paying for my work, along with some lovely words from paid supporters about the exclusive content they have access to. We are all ready and waiting to welcome you!
A conversation about the power of lucid dreaming
Here are some of the things Charlie and I cover in this chat:
What is lucid dreaming?
Why is lucid dreaming something we might want to do more of, what’s so great about it?
What’s your background and how did you end up becoming a lucid dreaming teacher?
Do you have any personal examples of how lucid dreaming has helped you answer a big life question?
How can we make ourselves become lucid whilst dreaming?
Lucid dreaming sounds a bit woowoo - is it just for the spiritually inclined?
Do you lucidly dream every night?
What’s the most amazing and mind expanding thing that’s happened in one of your lucid dreams and how did you interpret it?
Favourite moments from this conversation about lucid dreaming
Here are just a few snippets from what Charlie had to say:
'…if you met yourself at full potential you would call it divine, it would feel like divine guidance.' [Me: 🤯]
'…that idea of the iceberg of consciousness. You know, the top 10% is conscious but it's beneath the surface that 90% of your power lies. It's a bit like you're in the iceberg now.'
'…anything you treat with hypnotherapy you can treat through lucid dreaming.
Whether it's practicing that speech that you've got to give, whether it's asking big questions, whether it's getting better at athletic discipline, whether it's practicing kindness.'
'…through lucid dreaming you can actually rewire your brain as you sleep.'
'…just one lucid dream can change your life.'
'…if you have enough lucid dreams it starts to flow into the waking state and you start to become more lucid in your waking life, that's the real benefit.'
And sooo much more.
This interview is a podcast, and the first here!
This interview is in a different format to previous interviews here on A Day Well Spent. I really wanted to share Charlie’s own voice about this subject and so I decided to pop over to meet him and record our conversation as audio.
Charlie and I had never met before but I was a big fan of his work. I sent him an email a few months ago asking if he’d be open to me coming over and recording an interview with him for my Substack (I knew he didn’t live too far from me in London) and he very kindly said yes.
It was an incredibly enlightening afternoon, plus I got to meet Waffles.
The whole conversation is around 40 mins long, just press play at the top of this post / email to start listening to it. I like to listen to stuff while I’m doing household chores; it makes them far more interesting!
This interview is available for all to enjoy, so feel free to pass it on
The transcript is on a separate tab if you’d prefer to read that. And what’s great is that listeners can easily share a part of the conversation they like by creating an audiogram on Substack.
Anyone who visits this post on the web can highlight a quote from the transcript and get an audio-video snippet aka audiogram of what they've selected. This snippet is a short branded video that listeners can then share around on social media. So please do if you feel so inclined!
And if you think someone else would enjoy this conversation I encourage you to forward it on and share the lucid dreaming love.
As always, I (we!) would love to hear your thoughts about this conversation. And do let me know what you thought about this podcast format too.
