💬 Sunday Reflections #27 (a trip?)
6 months here (read to the end!) 🎈 And forgive me if this is a bit forward, but...
Hi! This is Leyla from A Day Well Spent, a newsletter seeking pathways to more purposeful living. If you’re reading this by chance - welcome! You can enter your email below to ensure you never miss my twice weekly posts (Thursdays and Sundays):
Welcome to Sunday Reflections ☕
For new subscribers, welcome to our weekly gathering! This is our intimate and friendly space for community and accountability.
How it works
Each Sunday I pose a prompt or question which we discuss (and say hi) in the comments. Topics tend to cover self-empowerment and personal growth and these weekly check-ins allow us to share our wisdoms and get to know ourselves and the other members of the A Day Well Spent community better.
Feel free to have a browse through previous Sunday Reflections to get an idea of the stuff we talk about, which include monthly New Moon intention setting.
ICYMI
In Thursday’s post I revealed that I’m just not that into Christmas and in particular, gifts. The buying, the giving, the receiving — everything about Christmas gifts.
I also share why (and how) my family and I opted out of the whole gift-giving pantomime and how it completely transformed the festive run-up and the day itself.
It turns out opting out was an option all along.
And this time last week we discussed the extremely useful life skill of reframing, that is shifting your your mindset so you’re able to look at a situation, person or relationship from a different perspective.
The community here was very generous sharing examples of where and how they have done this in the past.
Before we begin 🎈
Friday 1st December marked 6 months of A Day Well Spent and my writing here on Substack. In that time I have consistently published two posts a week (occasionally three) without missing a slot. That’s already an archive of over 60 articles written at a rate of about 10 a month; before this I was writing none.
Saying that out loud sounds bizarre and brilliant at the same time.
I’m not sure what I was expecting from this space when I published my welcome post a week before launch at the end of May. I guess you could say writing here has become my creative practice; I’m not sure I had one of these before starting A Day Well Spent. It’s turned out to be the most rewarding avenue through which I channel most of my creative energy.
And that sense of reward is completely down to the community here, which has blossomed into a beautiful bouquet in such a short amount of time.
It’s still a small and intimate community and I intend to keep this essence as it continues to grow. Whether you’ve been part of it since the beginning or have only recently joined, I feel we are truly getting to know each other and ourselves better. And I am loving it.
Some of you are in and out like a bandit without leaving a trace. I’ve never heard from you, I don’t know who you are or anything about you. But you continue showing up by supporting, reading and sharing my writing, which is amazing to me. If you are this person, thank you. Even if you prefer to remain invisible, I see you and appreciate you being part of this community.
Some of you are the awesome frequent engagers, you know who you are. In all honesty, it’s the things you respond with and the stories you have to tell down in the comments that is personally my favourite part of this space.
I have said since the beginning that A Day Well Spent is not a place for me to talk at you, it’s a place for me to talk with you and for us to talk with each other. It is a community and space with 4 main goals:
to help both of us learn new things, discuss interesting topics and do cool stuff
to help both of us discover, awaken and nourish ourselves and each other
to give you regular doses of connection and accountability
to get to know you, the person reading this
I think collectively, we are staying true to this direction.
And so, to mark and celebrate this milestone, today’s reflections are going to be a little different.
Sunday is for awakening the mind, body and spirit 🧘
Now let’s begin.
Today’s topic: a trip?
