Catching up on this now... loved the discussion! And I am SO in with helping you when you're ready on the farm Leyla - that would be fantastic. Anything, and I mean anything you need I am here for!

Oh and a question... all these fabulous gadgets: fermenter, dehydrator, mock mill... are you taking them with you to Portugal and will they work off the solar electric over there?

I CANNOT WAIT to read these books when they arrive!!

aww thank you dearest Sally! This is so very kind of you! Watch out because I might actually take you up on that one day 😅

Oh most definitely, these niche kitchen gadgets are going to be in their element in Portugal. The electric system is just the same as if it were connected to the grid, it's just that the power comes from solar panels. So everything can be plugged in as normal. I will need an adapter plug for these items though as they have UK plugs, of course.

I should say that we will actually still be connected to the mains grid, just because the connection is already there - it would be silly not to connect. But we only intend to revert to mains electricity if absolutely needed, for example if there's been weeks of overcast weather. Which thankfully is very uncommon there!

My granpa a LOT of yrs ago bought a piece of soil where he built the house for our holiday (we don’t own anymore that house unluckily), in the first yrs there wasn’t electricity and he transformed a bike in a bike connected with dynamo to create electricity. I don’t know if someone could sell something like that now.

Great news on the electricity. And I really mean it on helping you with whatever you need!

I'm also wondering whether your Substack will be re-named too? "Pathways to Purposeful Living" seems perfect for your Substack as well as your book!

Loved the conversation, loved the state of mind. Loved the mockmill !!! It didn't even cross my mind that such a thing could exist for individuals to use in their kitchen, that's awesome.

A lot of food for thought as usual and I cannot wait for the books to arrive.

Also, my only woofing experience wasn't great but I'd love to try it again on your farm !

Yes the Mockmill Claire!!! Isn't it amazing! It had also never crossed my mind, until the day it did - and then I was feverishly Googling if such a thing existed. When (not if!) I one day open up the quinta to WOOFING, you guys will get first dibs - of course ❤️

Happy Sunday to everyone!!

I LOVED the live conversation, I already follow Rosie on substack I’m not a paid subscriber (I’m sorry), it’s just there are so many good writers here that paying for all it’s really hard.

Sometimes I think it’s would be great pay substack to have unlimited access to all the writers, but for sure it is a bad idea for all the writers.

Rosie seems a really lovely and warm person and creates a very calm atmosphere.

I wrote to her days ago to ask more about this event, because I wanted to be ready in case she would talk about specific topic etc. (I hate don’t be prepared) and she was extremely kind.

Regarding u, u already know what I think n about u, u two create a perfect atmosphere.

I smiled and sometimes laughed in particular when u talked about ur elderberry wine because I thought to my granpa doing the same but with grappa. I haven’t understood why u said “sambuco” in Italian, so I think I will listen again the conversation to understand if I missed something.

I think u should write about ur kitchen’s tools because the dryer and the one for bread are awesome, I started imagining ur kitchen more or less like the Willy Wonka Factory.

I already know that u will write 2 books: “Leyla’s natural remedy and recipes” and “Restarting from the origins”.

I think it would be interesting once talk about the societal conditions of all countries, it’s one of the things always surprise me.

For new practical skills I discovered that also making candles it’s so easy, u could try in ur new house.

About ur hairs darl are always perfect, luckily people could see only u two otherwise people would have wondered what I was doing before, since that my hairs are always a mess 😅🤣.

CAN’T WAIT FOR U BOOK, it’s the perfect gift to make to myself in early for my 40.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!
