Hi! This is Leyla from A Day Well Spent, a newsletter seeking pathways to more purposeful living. If you’re reading this by chance - welcome! You can enter your email below to ensure you never miss my twice weekly posts (Thursdays and Sundays):
Happy Sunday and happy new month friends! Today’s post comes to you from across the pond where I’m coming to the end of a very fleeting visit to New York for a family wedding. Essentially, a three day party followed by intense jetlag then head first into a busy work week including another trip - pray for me.
As always, thank you all for being here and I very much look forward to reading your thoughts to today’s prompt on the long journey home!
Welcome to Sunday Reflections
For new subscribers, welcome to our weekly gathering! This is our intimate and friendly space for community and accountability.
How it works
Each Sunday I pose a prompt or question which we discuss (and say hi) in the comments. Topics tend to cover self-empowerment and personal growth and these weekly check-ins allow us to share our wisdoms and get to know ourselves and the other members of the A Day Well Spent community better.
Feel free to have a browse through previous Sunday Reflections to get an idea of the stuff we talk about, which include monthly New Moon intention setting.
ICYMI
Thursday’s post was a labour of love and it is therefore a belter - a slow travel walking guide to hidden Tuscany.
I actually had no intention of writing it but I enjoyed our week hiking in Italy earlier this month so much that I figured I had to share the love.
If you want to skip the crowds that visit the well-trodden Tuscan paths and instead discover the 'secret' Tuscany - not the one from glossy guide books but a wilder, quieter and more enchanting one - it’s a superb itinerary. With some outstanding eating and drinking spots I discovered along the way.
And thank you to Tuscan and food writer
for these lovely words about the post:And this time last week we were crowd-sourcing from the community here our favourite ways to look after ourselves aka self-care.
Sunday is for awakening the mind, body and spirit 🧘
Today’s topic: alone time
Sunday Reflections is a very welcoming and open space and so I really encourage you to join in by sharing your thoughts in the comments if you feel inclined to do so and also responding to others.
Don’t be shy. Everyone here is lovely!
This week’s reflection topic
Last month my husband took himself to New York for 10 days to watch the US Open Tennis and consume giant portions of fast food (I’m not the only one who likes to solo travel).
This meant I had the house to myself for that entire time. During those 10 days I interacted with other humans on just one occasion (I went to a friend’s BBQ) and beyond that great excursion, passed the threshold of my front door once only, to forage nettle seeds from my local park.
For the vast majority of those 10 days, it was me, myself and I inside my house or in my garden pretty much in total silence (the TV or radio didn’t go on once) - I absolutely relished it.
