💬 Sunday Reflections #31 (New Moon intentions)
This month’s New Moon: Thurs 11th Jan 11:57 GMT + my own review of my last ones
🎧 You can catch me presenting this week’s episode of The Food Programme today on BBC Radio 4 at 12:30, where I investigate how seaweed farming could be a huge boon for the UK restoring biodiversity, cleaning the sea and even capturing carbon. You can also listen on BBC Sounds here after broadcast, or wherever you usually get your podcasts from.
Hi! This is Leyla from A Day Well Spent, a newsletter seeking pathways to more purposeful living. If you’re reading this by chance - welcome! You can enter your email below to ensure you never miss my posts (most Thursdays and Sundays):
Hi all and happy Sunday! How wonderful that the first New Moon of the year is just around the corner, full of possibility and anticipation. I invite you in to embrace the start of this new lunar cycle with me and the New Moon, which falls on Thursday 🌚
This means we’ll be using today’s Sunday Reflections to set our intentions for this upcoming month and asking ourselves:
“What am I ready to invite in?”
Is this your first time joining our monthly New Moon intention setting?
If so, welcome! It’s one of my favourite times of the month. So many community members are already achieving so much with these monthly accountability meet-ups, they continually surprise and delight me.
If you would like to find out what New Moon intention setting is, how to do it and how we do it here on A Day Well Spent, have a read of this post which answers all these. Then you can head back here.
Perhaps you’ve been thinking about taking up this powerful monthly ritual for 2024. If so, we would be delighted if you wanted to join in!
ICYMI
To acknowledge the slippery sense of time that often permeates this point of the of year, Thursday’s post was a re-publishing of the first ever post I wrote here on A Day Well Spent on its launch date 7 months ago (when I had almost no subscribers), how to slow down the passing of time.
It’s my most viewed post to date (partly because it’s the oldest and it also got featured on
at the time) but has been behind a paywall since. So I’ve now made it available for everyone to read - please enjoy it.And here’s a round-up of what you might have missed from December when everyone was very busy and had little time for reading (oh, just me?): 30 affirmations I say out loud, an interview with mystic and shamanic indigenous artist Snow Raven, how to grow mushrooms at home and sharing our gratitude for the silly and frivolous.
Welcome to Sunday Reflections ☕
For new subscribers, welcome to our weekly gathering! This is our intimate and friendly space for community and accountability.
How it works
Each Sunday I pose a prompt or question which we discuss (and say hi) in the comments. Topics often cover self-empowerment and personal growth and these weekly check-ins allow us to get to know ourselves and the other members of the A Day Well Spent community better.
Feel free to have a browse through previous Sunday Reflections to get an idea of the stuff we talk about, which include monthly New Moon intention setting (what we’re doing today).
Before we begin
I’d like to share a couple of the beautiful joiner notes from some recent new community members that made my day to read:
A big and warm welcome to the both of you and to all the other recent new community members. It is my absolute pleasure to have you all here!
As always thank you for being here and I am so looking forward to today’s chat.
Sunday is for awakening the mind, body and spirit 🧘
Now let’s begin.
