Hi! This is Leyla from A Day Well Spent, a newsletter seeking pathways to more purposeful living. If you’re reading this by chance - welcome! You can enter your email below to ensure you never miss my twice weekly posts (Thursdays and Sundays):
Welcome to Sunday Reflections ☕
For new subscribers, welcome to our weekly gathering! This is our intimate and friendly space for community and accountability.
How it works
Each Sunday I pose a prompt or question which we discuss (and say hi) in the comments. Topics tend to cover self-empowerment and personal growth and these weekly check-ins allow us to share our wisdoms and get to know ourselves and the other members of the A Day Well Spent community better.
Feel free to have a browse through previous Sunday Reflections to get an idea of the stuff we talk about, which include monthly New Moon intention setting.
ICYMI
I regularly hear people as young as in their late 20s joke that they now make noises when getting out of a chair and cheerily lament that they must be ‘getting old’.
Hearing this comment from people so young and in their prime really grinds my gears and makes me realise just how out of touch many of us are with our bodies and how they feel, whatever age we are.
So on Thursday I wrote a post called you’re not getting old, you just need to stretch (which resulted in a fair few new readers, demonstrating just how relevant this topic is to many - hello if that’s you!).
In it I talk about my history with lower back pain, how I got rid of it, my theory that pretty much every person has it but often doesn’t even register it, the sciatica in my household, the importance of hip health and some of my favourite exercise routines to counter the fact we sit on our asses for most of our lives.
The routines are all less than 20 minutes long, accessible to all and require no equipment. You can even do one of them on your bed in your PJs before you go to sleep. I’ve been doing them for years and the effects are pretty amazing.
And this time last week we started thinking about the New Moon intentions we want to set for the new lunar cycle. The New Moon fell just yesterday so if you haven’t yet come up with your list, there is still time.
Before we begin
Substack have a relatively recent feature where new paid subscribers can share a private note as to why they’ve decided to upgrade. The subscriber can decide whether they’d like their note to be sharable and then Substack create a neat little image of it.
So THANK YOU for this, Alexandra.
My immediate thought was, do you have me confused with someone else?* 😅
(*I’m still learning to acknowledge that maybe my writing is actually OK)
Sunday is for awakening the mind, body and spirit 🧘
Now let’s begin.
Today’s topic: cool stuff we have recently learnt
